German security firm G Data accused the Russian government of creating and distributing a malware s "Uroburos"
Washington, March 1 (ANI): The German security firm G Data has reportedly accused the Russian government of creating and distributing a malware known as "Uroburos”. The author of G Data blog “MN” has alleged that the complexity of the malware and the presence of Cyrillic words in the malware sample proved the involvement of the Russian government.
“MN” also pointed to file names, encryption keys, and behavior of Uroburos as evidence that the Russian government played a role in the creation of the malware and said that Uroburos looked for a previous piece of malware that''s been tied to Russia, but not its government conclusively, Cnet reported.
The author said that the malware behavior was typical for propagation in networks of huge companies or public authorities, adding that the attackers expected that their target did not have computers cut off from the Internet and used this technique as a kind of workaround to achieve their goal.
